AHU overcooling — supply air below setpoint.

The air handler holds its discharge below the temperature its sequence commands — overcooling the supply air it feeds the floor. A chilled-water valve stuck or hunting open, a supply-air reset not applied, or a sequence overriding to a colder setpoint than the load needs; it spends cooling energy the floor did not call for and drives reheat and comfort complaints downstream.

Preconditions
The supply-air setpoint and reset schedule confirmed per AHU so overcooling is scored against the commanded target, not a fixed number; the discharge sensor calibrated; the reset's intent (how far it should raise supply air under light load) recorded so an un-applied reset is detectable.
Human role
Scales by tier — at Essential the customer sees the overcooling and corrects the sequence; at Managed, Keedian Ops triages whether the cause is the valve or the reset and dispatches; at Optimized, Keedian applies or restores the supply-air reset and commands the valve back within authority, with an audit trail. A stuck valve is referred for a scoped service.
Action plan
(1) Confirm the commanded target and reset before treating overcooling as real — a handler correctly running a low supply-air temperature for a genuine high load is not overcooling; score against the reset-aware setpoint. (2) Confirm the discharge holds below the commanded setpoint for a sustained period during occupied hours. (3) Place the cause: a chilled-water valve stuck or hunting open (a valve or actuator scope), a supply-air reset configured but not applied (a sequence fix), or a manual override to a colder setpoint (an operating-discipline conversation). (4) Tiered response: at Essential surface the overcooling; at Managed triage and dispatch; at Optimized apply/restore the reset and command the valve back within authority, with an audit trail, referring a stuck valve for a scoped service.
Escalation
(1) A handler overcooling across a portfolio of floors with a reset that is configured but never applied → a systemic energy-recovery opportunity for the MBR. (2) A valve stuck open overcooling a floor and driving comfort complaints or reheat energy → scope the valve before the energy and comfort cost compounds. (3) Repeated manual overrides to colder-than-needed setpoints on the same handler → an operating-discipline item to raise with the building team.
Prevention
(1) Confirm the supply-air setpoint and reset schedule per AHU so overcooling is measured against the commanded target. (2) Alert on sustained below-setpoint discharge during occupied hours, and pair it with a reset-following check so an un-applied reset is caught as the cause. (3) Trend discharge against the reset schedule and valve position so a stuck-open valve or an ignored reset is visible, and keep a per-AHU log over time.
