- A client-defined consumption threshold per site (daily/monthly kWh cap or contracted/budgeted ceiling); main-meter interval data reconciled to the bill.

- Action plan

(1) Reconcile metered kWh against the bill before acting — an unreconciled meter makes the breach unreliable (two-source rule).
(2) Confirm consumption is above the client-defined ceiling — this is an absolute cap the client set, not the trailing baseline (that is the step-change alarm).
(3) Walk the cause with the site: a load left on, a slipped schedule, a newly-added load, or equipment failed into continuous run. Energy reads the meter — we guide the fix, we do not switch loads.
(4) Where sub-metered, attribute the excess to the exact circuit and point the site at it.

(1) Breach persists across periods with no controllable cause + a rising compressor/refrigeration signature → scheduled equipment visit before product/comfort loss.
(2) Ceiling is structurally too low for the site's real load (hours/area/equipment changed) → recalibrate the threshold with the client at the monthly review rather than alarm on noise.
