Pump-down repeats abnormally.

The pump-down sequence repeats more often than the commissioned observation window expects — a short-cycling pattern that stresses compressors and points to a leak-back, valve, or control fault rather than a single failed sequence.

Preconditions
Rack controller exposes pump-down request/state and timestamps; commissioned observation window per rack; feed health confirmed. Setpoint/delay alone do not activate the alarm.

Action plan
(1) Confirm the abnormal repeat frequency from request/state timestamps over the commissioned observation window. (2) Distinguish normal demand-driven pump-downs from a short-cycling fault. (3) Correlate valve/leak-back and suction behavior for the underlying cause. (4) Dispatch the refrigeration vendor with the repeat history before short-cycling damages the compressor.
Escalation
(1) Rising short-cycle frequency, or compressor behavior indicating stress → asset-protection dispatch within SLA. (2) Recurring short-cycling on the same rack across periods → valve/controls replacement candidate.
Prevention
(1) Alert on the repeat pattern over the observation window rather than a single sequence, so short-cycling is surfaced early. (2) Review valve seating and leak-back on racks with recurring short-cycling at the MBR.
